when the dust clears

Words about and images of matters political, social, and military

Exhibition of all my Iraq work in Long Island through 20 Feb.

For weeks I have been mailing (snail- and e-), delivering, and Yousendit-ing photos, video, documents, and journal entries to Adelphi University art gallery curator Eliz Alahverdian. She managed to shape all of this material—five-plus years’ worth of work I produced and compiled for Full Disclosure—into a shockingly comprehensive whole. Two wholes, actually, since the show fills two galleries.

To see photos I made between 2004 and 2006 integrated with Full Disclosure—plus outtakes I couldn’t fit in the doc—as well as chunks of my journals, and documents and video briefings I got through the Freedom of Information Act was arresting. (I visited earlier this week.) I have spilled a lot of my life into this project, and here it is.

So if you happen to be in Garden City between now and February 20, please drop by. Consider yourself invited (see below).
